Health & Physical Education

Health and Physical Education involves students learning about ways to maintain a lifelong, healthy, physically active life. Students learn about the importance of eating healthy foods and participating in regular exercise. Students are encouraged to improve their own and others’ health and physical wellbeing.

When learning about their health, students learn how their body, their physical environment and their personal behaviours all contribute to their health and wellbeing.

Students develop a range of movement skills and physical fitness and learn skills in a variety of sports. Over the years at Emmaus, students will experience a range of physical activities including outdoor and recreational sports, activities and games that are performed individually and in groups. They are praised and encouraged to improve their confidence and their skill level.

Our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students also participate in the Summer and Winter weekly Interschool Sports program. Sports include: soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, netball, cricket and softball. Our students perform well and have reached many finals over the years.

Our school’s outdoor facilities and hall allow students to participate in weekly physical education lessons by enthusiastic and well planned specialists.

Furthermore, at recess times, the students greatly enjoy playing daily on our synthetic soccer and football ovals and running track, the adventure playground and courts. This not only improves their fitness, it also improves their team work and social skills.
